The difference between Chiloe and European sphagnum moss
In southern Chile is the island of Chiloe, one of the wettest regions of Chile. The constant humidity on this island has allowed the development of a species of moss famous for its numerous qualities: Chiloe Sphagnum. Unlike the moss that we find in Europe, sphagnum moss from Chile is distinguished through the following benefits:
- Due to a more favourable climate, Chiloe sphagnum bogs regenerate more quickly and grow faster than European moss. The layers removed regenerate fully in 4 years. Chile Sphagnum therefore allows longer lasting effectiveness while respecting the environment, being 100% renewable.
- Chiloe Sphagnum, with its naturally acidic pH, tolerates fertilizers, whereas European moss rapidly rots. Chiloe Sphagnum can be used wherever you use peat or compost.
- Chiloe Sphagnum has a water retention and rehydration capacity well above the European moss.
